Hello! I am very lucky to teach music across the Basingstoke community working in a range of primary and secondary school settings in both mainstream and special schools. I am passionate about music being accessible and enjoyable and these two principles are at the heart of my lessons. I like my pupils to leave their first lesson being able to play something immediately and strive to nurture well rounded creative musicians. I do not teach exam to exam but explore what music means for you and build skills for independence.

I have grade 8 on both Piano and Violin, a BA Music from the University of Sussex and a Masters in Music Composition from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I always strive to keep myself up to date by attending regular CPD sessions with Hampshire Music Service and music educators such as Nate Holder, The Curious Piano Teachers, Soundout UK and Penelope Roskell.  A welcoming and accepting approach is important to me and I also regularly read literature and attend CPD sessions around neurodiversity and disability including organisations such as Sounds Of Intent, The Amber Trust and Soundabout.

I enjoy critically reflecting on my my own practice and was honoured to receive a bursary from EYFS music charity Creative Futures to explore a topic of my own interest as part of their Seeds Creative projects. You can read my article on including quiet children in EYFS music below along with projects by other music practitioners.
